The birth of Centho-chocolates

Centho-chocolates was founded in 2002 by Els and Geert Decoster.
Geert studied for 6 years at the renowned 'Elishout School' in Brussels.  There he acquired his basic knowledge of chocolate.  Later, he went to France to the 'Ecole de Bellouet' for a post-graduate course and he amassed more in-depth knowledge of the know-how and the background of chocolate with 'Jean Pierre Richart', a master in his trade.

And also in Belgium he takes refresher courses to keep up with the latest trends.

Right from the start in 2002 Els and Geert have chosen to offer top quality only.  Starting with base products of high quality was the one and only option and that harmonized with the difficult but pure concept of 'origin-chocolate'.

A dream came true for Els and Geert.  They put their heart and soul in their company.  Even it's name 'CENTHO' is filled with love : it's a combination of the names of their children : their daughter, Centa and their son, Thomas.

The Centho-trend

After a few years of experimenting and trying out different trends, we can now say that we have become trendsetters ourselves in the world of chocolate.

Through our unique combination of knowledge and originality and by cherishing the black gold, we give our customers something more than just a chocolate.  Its has also got content !

Because we follow this philosophy, we have been elected member of the BBCW, an organisation with the support of the Federal Government of Belgium, to propagate the Chocolate Confectioners in het rest of the world.
Geert himself was also a member of the jury in the famous 'World Chocolate Master'.

Our 'Speculaas'-chocolate has won the Gold Medal in England in the competition 'The Great Taste Award of the UK'.  This proves that even a simple product can be delicious !

Our customers

First of all the people who visit our shop in Duisburg (Tervuren).  Brussels and Leuven within a stone's throw, in the centre of Belgium.
Shops, hotels and restaurants in London and other parts of England, Denmark, the United States, Japan, ...

Our concern

We are well aware that there is a lot of child labour and that people are being abused on cocoa plantations all over the world.  That is why we always ask our suppliers to prove to us that they have signed the Charter against these malpratices.

Most of our cocoa beans are grown in 'Fairtrade' and 'Rainforest protection' areas.  We have been to Ecuador twice to visit these areas and to see for ourselves how this is done.  You can rest assured.
